The Government backed Eco 4 scheme is providing thousands of Free Heating and Insulations Grants. The heating grants do not have to be paid back and are fully Funded by the Large utility companies like British Gas, Scottish Power, EDF, Eon & Octopus Energy. Included in the Grants are the Following Heating measures – Gas Central heating, Air Source Heat Pumps & High Heat Retention Storage Heaters. Alongside the Heating Grants, Insulation Grants are also available for Roof Insulation, Cavity Wall Insulation, Internal Wall Insulation and in some cases Free Solar Panels can be claimed.
The Idea of the Scheme is to make the UK’s leaky housing stock more efficient and cheaper to heat, and with the current high energy prices, the grants could come as a welcome relief to qualifying households. The scheme is targeting the most inefficient houses by carrying out free energy assessments to check if a property qualifies, initially only properties with an EPC rating of E,F or G will qualify and the householders must meet other criteria which includes receiving certain means tested benefits. Certain householders can qualify without means tested benefits but must meet scheme income Thresholds.
