Eco-Friendly Home Upgrades Made Affordable with Green Energy Grants

There’s growing knowledge of available grants which are backed by the UK government, and funded by energy companies. These can often make great home upgrades and improvements if you qualify for one of the funding schemes.

There are several energy grants available in the UK, each with its own eligibility criteria and funding limitations. Some of the grants available include the Energy Company Obligation (ECO4) and ECO+. These schemes are designed to help people make energy-efficient home improvements, such as loft insulation, cavity wall insulation, solid wall insulation, and boiler upgrades.

The eligibility criteria for each grant may vary, and generally, they are targeted towards low-income and vulnerable households. In most cases, you must be in receipt of certain benefits to qualify for the grants, such as Pension Credit, Universal Credit, Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA), Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA), Income Support, Housing Benefit, Child Benefit, and Tax Credits (Child or Working Tax Credit).

If you meet the eligibility criteria, you can contact your local council or energy provider to find out how much funding you can receive and what improvements are eligible for funding.

It’s worth noting that making energy-efficient home improvements can be a great way to reduce your energy bills in the long run. According to the Energy Saving Trust, installing loft insulation in a three-bedroom semi-detached home can cost around £300 and save around £180 a year. Similarly, cavity-wall insulation in the same home can cost around £450 and save around £140 a year. So, while the initial cost of making these improvements can be significant, the long-term savings on your energy bills can be substantial.

If you’re interested in making energy-efficient home improvements but are unsure about the heating funding available, it’s worth checking with your local council or energy provider to find out what grants are available to you.
